Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ballinlough West is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Ballinlough West, County Tipperary, Ireland. It forms a circular enclosure about 30 metres across, bounded by a 10-metre-wide earthen bank that stands 0.6 metres high inside and 2.5 metres high outside. A 10-metre-wide ditch, 1.5 to 2.5 metres deep, separates the main bank from faint traces of an outer bank 3 metres wide. The interior slopes gently southward, while dense vegetation hides the western edge from view.

In pasture, on low rise. Good views all round. Circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) defined by earthen bank (Wth c. 10m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 2.5m). Intervening fosse (Wth c. 10m; basal Wth 3m; D 1.5-2.5m) and traces of outer bank (Wth 3m; int. H 1.25m; ext. H 0.25m). Interior slopes down gently to S. Monument visible at W only due to dense vegetation cover. Badger activity in banks. Field boundary radiates from NW, ENE and SW of monument. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011
