Cattle and people both wanted the edge of that circle, so the land kept giving it back. A shallow drum still lies under the grass in Ballinaltig Beg, wide enough for a courtyard, a garden or a small proud life. The fairies may have taken the sharpness, but they forgot the shape.

Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 25m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map, with small hachured circular feature (diam. c. 5m) at centre of interior; as hachured penannular enclosure (diam. c. 30m), open to NE, on 1905 and 1935 OS 6-inch maps.
