What is recorded here

Thirty-four metres across, the Assolas ringfort stands in park pasture, its earthen bank hidden beneath deciduous trees and tangled growth. The fosse has partly filled from the northeast, smoothing the boundary between human making and earth reclaiming. What lives inside that circle now is not a person but a rhythm: shadow, root, rain and forgetting. The fort does not need belief to be strange. It has spent centuries becoming strange, and it shows no intention of stopping.

In pasture, on E side of natural rise; in park land of Assolas. Circular area (34m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.7m; ext. H 0.85m); external fosse (D 0.85m). Bank heavily overgrown and planted with deciduous trees. Fosse partially infilled NE->SE. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
