Fairy forts are not about fairies at all. They are ordinary human places misnamed because people stopped understanding them. In West Cork, that is a ringfort: a defended home, farm or boundary marker from before written records. The fairy label is not wonder, it is forgetting.

In pasture, on break in SSE-facing slope, extensive view over Clonakilty Bay to S and over countryside to E. Levelled; some undulations in field. Known locally as site of fort.
