Fairy forts are not fairy forts at all. They are ordinary human dwellings from before written memory, misnamed because people stopped understanding them. Aghnaglogh is one such place: a raised oval, partially buried under fields and conifers, with a spring nearby and no visible entrance. The boundary has been walked into and rebuilt so often that the original shape has become a rumour. What remains is not mystical, but harder to read. Forgetting has done more to it than any developer.

Raised oval area (int. dims. 44m N-S; 38m E-W) enclosed by a partially denuded earthen bank and slight remains of a fosse. Perimeter has been modified and incorporated into the field boundary. Original entrance not recognisable. The site has been planted with coniferous trees. A spring well lies a short distance to WSW.
