Aughintober holds a D-shaped earthen platform twenty-four metres long, buried low amongst drumlins with no visible entrance or defensive ditch. Humans may have lived there before forgetting the name, while fairies allegedly claimed the fort afterwards. The land kept both truths by stopping human memory and waiting for imagination to return.

Situated in a low-lying position amongst drumlins. This is a slightly raised and grass-covered D-shaped earthen platform (dims 24m N-S; 22m E-W; H 0.45m) with no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance. It is slightly truncated by a N-S field bank at W. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J.
