Archaeological testing was carried out in the vicinity of a rath (CO087-030----) and Man-made underground passage (C0087-089----) in advance of a large multi-phase housing development at Carrigaline Middle in 2001. A pit (F21), measuring 0.15m by 0.18m and containing a fill of silty clay with frequent inclusions of charcoal and heat-shattered stones, was uncovered to the N of the rath (CO087-030----).
