What is recorded here
Seven circular houses and a man-made underground passage still mark Lisbellanagroagh Beg, though their exact age remains uncertain. The enclosure may have been a rath, a defended home or a seasonal gathering place where people moved through darkness before emerging into the circular rooms. Its shape suggests cooperation, repetition and confidence in the land rather than a single dramatic event.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as ENCLOSURE (rath?); Man-made underground passage; 7 CIRCULAR HOUSES (O.S. memoir site). Recorded period: E.CHRIST.; UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
