Enclosure in Shancarrick

Situated in a fold on a S-facing slope of the Skeanada river valley. It is marked only on the 1907 edition of the OS 6-inch map. This is a grass-covered subrectangular area (int. dims 17.7m E-W; 7.9-12m N-S) defined by a grass-covered stone spread (Wth 2.5-3.5m; int. H 0.9-1.4m; ext. H 0.2-0.7m) with some trees on the perimeter and an entrance (Wth 1.2m) at W. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J.
