What is recorded here
According to Power (1908, 60) the placename Raheenroe means the '"Little Red Rath"; from a large mote-like rath still entire'. There is no monument indicated on the 1st or 2nd ed. OS 6-inch map in this townland, which extends onto OS 6-inch 86. Perhaps Power was confusing this with an enclosure (TS070-056----) called 'Raheenroe' on the OS 6-inch map in Coolmundry Parish in the barony of Middlethird. However, if Power is correct then the ringfort in Raheenroe (Shanrahan Parish) is unlocated within the townland.
