What is recorded here
Enclosure in Raheenroe (Shanrahan parish) is an enclosure in Raheenroe (Shanrahan parish), County Tipperary, Ireland. Power claimed the name meant the Little Red Rath and described a large mote-like rath still entire, but no monument appears on the OS 6-inch map for this townland. The identification is uncertain because a different enclosure called Raheenroe exists in Coolmundry Parish, and the true ringfort may be unlocated within this townland.
According to Power (1908, 60) the placename Raheenroe means the '"Little Red Rath"; from a large mote-like rath still entire'. There is no monument indicated on the 1st or 2nd ed. OS 6-inch map in this townland, which extends onto OS 6-inch 86. Perhaps Power was confusing this with an enclosure (TS070-056----) called 'Raheenroe' on the OS 6-inch map in Coolmundry Parish in the barony of Middlethird. However, if Power is correct then the ringfort in Raheenroe (Shanrahan Parish) is unlocated within the townland.
