Fire cracked oats in shallow ditches north of the ringfort, turning a working yard into a dark archive before developers erased it. The charred remains suggest people stripped, roasted or discarded grain in that enclosed space, perhaps feeding a household or feeding a story. Lusk swallowed the evidence under new roads and kitchens, yet the smoke still hangs in the data, waiting for someone to smell it.

This site was excavated prior to development of a housing estate (Licence no. 05E0848). Located immediately N of ringfort enclosure (DU008-103001-) this enclosure was defined by a complex of shallow ditches that were filled with charred cereal remains, predominantly oats. This area was likely to have been used to process cereals (Giacometti 2011, 160). Compiled by: Christine Baker Date of upload: 5 February 2015
