What is recorded here

Enclosure in Larganboy East stood on a ridge top in County Mayo, watching a narrow valley and rolling pasture before disappearing from the ground entirely. Maps drawn in 1838 and 1917 still marked a small circular bank ten to fifteen metres across, yet no trace remains for a person to touch or walk around. The place may have been a barrow rather than an enclosure, but that doubt does not weaken it; it suggests a small mound once held a life or a memory, then gave up its shape to rain, pasture and time.

Located on the level top of a ridge, close to the break of slope on the SW side, with good views over a narrow valley to SW and of rolling pasture to NE. There is a possible rath (MA092-036----) 150m to N. A small embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 10-15m) is shown on the 1838 OS 6-inch map; a hachured circular feature is shown on the 1917 edition.
