What is recorded here

In forestry, on the lower N-facing slopes of Musherabeg. A circular area (c. 22m x c. 19.5m) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3m; int. H 0.45m; ext. H 0.8m) with an external fosse (D 0.5m) at NE and SSW was identified in 1995 (Johnson 1998, 102). A drainage channel cuts the enclosure along the NW arc and the bank is low at this point. A roughly circular area (c. 5m N-S; c. 4m E-W) defined by paving stones lies immediately outside the bank and appears to cut the fosse, at SE. The enclosure could not be located in 2000. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009
