Church in Glantane East

In rough mountain pasture, in slight depression between two low rocky ridges; rectangular structure (10.7m ENE-WSW; 5.5m NNW-SSE) with random rubble dry-stone walling (max. H 0.6m; Wth c. 1m) in poor repair; gap, slightly W of centre in N wall, may define entrance. Much ruined annexe (c. 5.6m ENE-WSW; c. 3.4m NNW-SSE) onto WSW wall. According to local information, remains of Penal chapel known as "The church of Knocknakilla". The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
