What is recorded here
Situated on a gentle W-facing slope in undulating pastureland. Indicated as a hexagonal enclosure on the 1st ed. (1840) OS 6-inch map and as a roughly circular enclosure on the 1904 ed. The site has been levelled with only a slight trace of a bank remaining in the S-SW quadrant. The site was deemed to be of no archaeological interest (OPW 1962); the site was thus levelled as part of a reclamation scheme.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
