Enclosure in Knockanruddig

New site identified by John Cronin & Associates (JCA) under Licence No. 16E0127 prior to wind farm development in Knockanruddig, Kilgarvan, Co. Kerry by ESB Wind Development Ltd. The remains of a roughly oval dry-stone enclosure, identified in the same boggy hilltop plateau as NICH27, near a long cut-away section of bog at ITM grid co-ord. 507698, 570649. The site consists of a roughly oval enclosure, long axis aligned north to south, measuring 15m by 8m. Its enclosing wall is 0.35m wide and consists of single stones, with some leaning on top of one another in the manner seen at other likely pre-modern walls in the northern half of the Grousemount windfarm site. The wall is 0.3m high but is not visible in some sections due to the stones being partly buried in peat. The feature was likely to have been used as an animal pen/enclosure.
