Enclosure in Kildromin

Enclosure

What is recorded here

On low lying wet pasture, cut by land drains and watercourses, 200m SW of a townland boundary with Milltown. Ditch-barrow (LI032-244----) lies 162m to SW. Not depicted on OSi historic maps. Monument identified by the Bruff aerial photographic survey in 1986 (Bruff 161: AP 4/3633) as a semi-circular-shaped cropmark which is open to NNE. There is no cropmark of this nature visible on any of the modern orthoimages, however an oval-shaped earthwork (23m NW-SE; 20m NE-SW) defined by a possible bank, is visible to the immediate SE, as seen on the OSi orthoimage taken 2005-2012. See attached Google Earth orthoimage and Bruff aerial survey image labelled 161 Compiled by: Alison McQueen and Vera Rahilly Date of upload: 19 November 2020
