Enclosure in Creggane (duhallow By.),gortavoher

In pasture, on gentle N-facing slope. Depicted as hachured oval enclosure (c. 60m N-S; c. 50m E-W) on 1842 OS 6-inch map, bisected WNW-ESE by townland boundary; lime kiln at outer face of WSW bank. Levelled; oval area (c. 62m N-S; c. 42m E-W) defined by slight scarp with shallow external fosse (D 0.2m) ESE->SW, on S side of townland boundary; natural scarp follows line of enclosure on N side of boundary fence. Break (Wth 9m) in scarp to ESE, on S side of field fence. Lime kiln survives to WSW, heavily overgrown. North half of interior partially overgrown with briars; in S half shallow linear fosse (D 0.1m; Wth 0.8m) runs from E to W c. 12m inside S scarp and curves at E end to run parallel to scarp.
