Enclosure in Cottlestown — Report the wrong picture

What is recorded here

Situated on a WSW-facing slope in poor pasture. From WNW-N-NNE the site is bordered by a now dried-up stream. Large D-shaped area (dims. 65m NW-SE; 50m NE-SW) defined from SSW-N-E by a low, stone-faced scarp (H 0.6m - 1m), with ephemeral remains of a bank at its upper edge, and elsewhere defined by a naturally-occurring, almost linear gully. Break in scarp at W (Wth. 2.8m) probably marks the original entrance. In the SE quadrant is a slightly raised subrectangular area (dims. 26m NW-SE; 21m NE-SW) enclosed by the largely grassed-over remains of a low wall of stone and earth (H 0.1m - 0.35m). In the NW corner is a pillar stone (SL022-010003-). Also within this sub-enclosure are numerous low upright stones which presumably mark burials (SL022-010002-). Compiled by: Patrick F.
