What is recorded here
Cloonloum More is a hidden circular enclosure beside two ringforts, visible only on the 1840 map and now buried under dense rushes. It may have been a yard, shrine, trap or forgotten doorway, but the land has taken back its shape. What remains is a slight rise, a mapped circle and the suspicion that Cloonloum still keeps more than it shows.
On a very gentle SSW-facing slope, in rough pasture, overlooking a gently undulating landscape in all directions. Depicted on the 1840 OS map as a roughly circular area (diam. c. 23m) which is abutting a ringfort (CL035-127002-) to NE. This map edition shows a field boundary enclosing the monument to NW and NE. The monument is not depicted on the 25-inch OS map or the 1921 edition of the OS 6-inch map, although the field boundary to NW and NE is shown. Not visible at ground level. There is a slight rise in this area of the field, however very dense rushes obscure any possible surface trace. A ringfort (CL035-126----) is located c. 18m to SW.
