Enclosure in Cloghala (gowran By., Bennettsbridge Ed)

Indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map as an irregular-shaped curvilinear enclosure and on the 1899-1902 revision as a circular enclosure (overall diam. c. 65m). There is a mature tree(s) in the interior roughly S of centre. Between 2005 and 2009 a farm roadway (Wth c. 5m) was constructed, cutting across the SW quadrant of the enclosure and by 2011 the enclosure had been levelled and is visible on satellite imagery (Google Earth, imagery date 21 April 2011) as the cropmark of a fosse. Ground disturbance, which appears to be due to quarrying, has encroached into the interior in the N-E-SE (Google Earth, imagery date 25 April 2021).
