What is recorded here
During reclamation of the surrounding field in 1982, the circular enclosure marked on the OS maps was removed. The depiction on the 2nd edition of the OS map indicates that the W half of the enclosing bank or wall had been replaced by a field wall. This curving wall, which probably preserved the line of the earlier one, is all that remains to mark the former presence of the site.
The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 711. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
