What is recorded here
This subcircular enclosure, not marked on the OS maps, is located to the W of Brassel mountain on a steep S facing slope in rough mountainous pasture. It comprises an area 25m N-S x 21.4m E-W which is enclosed by a stone wall, 1.9m wide and up to .65m high. The field boundaries (KE073-012001-) in the immediate vicinity are of similar form to the enclosing element of the site and the enclosure may possibly be a part of this system.
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 718. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
