Enclosure in Brandonhill (gowran By.)

Enclosure

What is recorded here

Brandon Hill in County Kilkenny holds a circular enclosure fifteen metres from a cairn. Grass hides most of the stones, yet one metre boulders still mark the edge of a chamber never built for casual entry. The absence of an opening does not signal an empty place; it may have reserved the interior for people who already knew the hill and its rules.
On the summit of Brandon Hill, c. 15m N of a hilltop cairn (KK029-032001-). A circular area (int. diam. 6.9m E-W; 6.6m N-S; ext. diam. 10.3m N-S; 10.1m E-W) defined by a grass-covered stone spread (Wth 1.6-2m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.3-0.4m). The stones are on average c. 0.25cm in diameter, with some boulders (dims c. 1m x c. 1m) included. The stone spread is well grassed in. There is no visible entrance.
