Enclosure in Beheenagh (corkaguiny By.)

Enclosure

What is recorded here

Beheenagh holds an unseen enclosure beside a platform fort at Lis na Pairc, where a man-made passage cuts into the earth. The hidden structure may have served as a shelter, a treasury or a ceremonial chamber, but its exact location has slipped from human memory. What remains is a gap in the landscape, waiting for someone to walk the townland and discover what the soil still keeps.
This record refers to an unlcoated enclosure in Beheenagh townland. The source of the information is from the 'Minutes of the County Kerry Field Club' (1939, 17) where reference is made to 'a platform fort at Lis na Pairc' which has an interesting Man-made underground passage [KE037-063001-].' The exact location of this enclosure is unknown. (SMR file)

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
