What is recorded here

On a raised ridge in undulating rocky landscape with commanding views to the W and NW overlooking the Aran islands and within a field system (CL004-048001-). Listed as ‘Potential Site Air Photo’ in the RMP (1996). A circular enclosure (diam. c. 20m) defined by intermittently visible loose stones overgrown from N to SW. In the interior, a raised stone area (diam. 7m; max. H 0.5m) gives the enclosure the appearance of a barrow and from SW to N the level of the interior (H 0.5-1m) is higher than external ground level. Field boundaries from the associated field system (CL004-048001-) extend from the enclosure at W, NW and NE. Compiled by: Mary Tunney and Lynda McCormack Date of upload: 13 June 2022
