What is recorded here
Enclosure in Ballynabrehon North appeared as a fort only on an 1811 estate map, then vanished from later mapping while leaving no visible remains. That sudden disappearance suggests the fort may have been a boundary marker, a mistaken drawing or a place already hidden beneath turf and memory. Ballynabrehon North keeps the name of what refused to be found.
An enclosure is indicated as ‘fort’ in Ballynabrehon North townland on an 1811 estate map (NLI Ms 2713). It is not shown on the 1838 and 1920 OS 6-inch maps. No remains of the enclosure have been found.
