Enclosure in Ballymagrorty Scotch

In pasture, utilising a small rise on the level top of a ridge or broad hill, overlooked at NW by a higher ridge. On its NE-S side, the hill drops into a valley with two interconnected lakes, known as Garvanagh Lough, from the more southerly of which a stream skirts the base of the hill at S-SW. Not indicated on any edition of the OS 6-inch maps. This enclosure (15.5m NW-SE; 4.5m NE-SW at SE end, 9.5m NE-SW at NW end) is roughly triangular in plan, with rounded corners. The shape of the enclosure is determined by the low natural rise which it encompasses. It is defined by a barely discernible stone bank, which is evident as a low, gapped moss- and sod-covered rise (Wth c. 1m; H 0.2-0.3m) from which stones protrude randomly. The interior is level with occasional moss-covered stones breaking the surface. There is a larger enclosure (DG103-073---) 16m to NW.
