On the 1st ed. OS 6-inch map the area is depicted as an island surrounded by boggy marshland at the base of the NW slopes of Dranagh Mountain at the S end of the Blackstairs Mountains. An oval enclosure (dims. c. 36m N-S; c. 30m E-W) visible as a cropmark on Google Earth (imagery date 14 July 2018), identified and reported by Simon Dowling.
