What is recorded here

Embanked enclosure is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Rathpeak, County Roscommon, Ireland. The 1837 Ordnance Survey map marked a circular embanked enclosure thirty to thirty-five metres across on a low rise. The earthworks no longer show in the pasture, but the drawing preserves their shape.
Marked only on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map as a circular embanked enclosure (diam. c. 30-35m), and situated on a low rise in an undulating landscape. It is not visible at ground level in pasture but it was probably a rath. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
