Enclosure

What is recorded here

Embanked enclosure is an enclosure in Keelcurragh OR Carrowreagh, ballinwully, County Roscommon, Ireland. It appears as a circular enclosure with a broad bank on the 1837 Ordnance Survey map, measuring about 25 metres inside and 55 metres outside on a south-facing slope. The ground now shows only a curved field bank and the townland boundary with Ballinwully. Robert Nugent lost an earthen fort at Ballinwilly to Irish rebels before 1596, which may have been this site.
