What is recorded here

Marked as a rectangular structure (dims c. 10m NE-SW; c. 5m NW-SE) described as 'R. C. Chapel (in ruins)' in italic lettering on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. This was the location of a Roman Catholic church before the present church of St Mary was built in Ballagh c. 500m to the W by Rev. Patrick Hanly PP (1801-26) (Beirne 2000, 267).
