What is recorded here

On the crest of a slight NNE-SSW ridge in an undulating landscape. Circular grass and scrub-covered platform (diam. 32.5m N-S; 32.5m E-W) defined by a slight earthen bank (Wth 8-8.3m; int. H 0.1-0.2m; ext. H 1.6m at E to 2.1m at W) which is reduced to a scarp N-NE and ESE-SSE. This is separated by a berm (Wth 2-3m) from an outer bank (Wth 3.2-5m; int. H 0.2-0.7m; ext. H 0.5-0.8m) and hedge which is surmounted by a drystone wall (Wth 0.6-1m; H 0.5-1m). The entrance (Wth 2.9m) and stone-lined causeway are at SSE (max. ext. dims 54m E-W; 50m N-S). There are some small cairns (diam. c. 2-3m; H 0.5-0.7m) in the interior and local information on its use as a Children's burial ground (RO048-115002-). The rath (RO048-114----) is c. 130m to the WNW and rath (RIO048-116----) is c. 130m to the SW. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 14 March 2012
