Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

On the summit of an E-W drumlin ridge. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 49.2m E-W; 46m N-S) defined by an earthen bank and hedge (Wth 3.7-5.3m; int. H 0.2-0.6m; ext. H 0.6m at S to 1.2-1.6m generally), with a fosse (Wth of top 7.3m; Wth of base 2.6m; D 0.4-0.6m) NNW-ENE which has been extended into a pond (dims c 14m E-W; c. 10m N-S; D 1.2m) ENE-SE. There are slight traces of an outer bank (Wth 3m; ext. H 0.4m) N-NNE, and there is an entrance (Wth 1.2m) at WSW. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
