Embanked enclosure is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Danesfort, County Roscommon, Ireland. It occupies a subcircular grass-covered area towards the top of the W-facing slope of a drumlin. A short earthen bank and overgrown scarp define the inner edge, while an outer fosse and second earthen bank continue around most of the circuit. Rath lies about 120m to the ENE.
Towards the top of the W-facing slope of a drumlin. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 56m NW-SE; 50m NE-SW) defined by a short length of earthen bank (Wth 5m; int. H 0.4-0.6m; ext. H 1.1m) at WSW and an overgrown scarp (H 0.6m at S to 1.5m at N) elsewhere. There is an outer fosse (Wth of base 4-4.3m) and overgrown outer earthen bank (at W: Wth 4.3m; int. H 0.1m; ext. H 1.3m; at N: 6.4m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 2m) SW-N-NE, while the fosse is continued by a band of wet ground (Wth 3-5m) E-SE. There is no visible entrance. Rath (RO011-049----) is c. 120m to the ENE.
