Embanked enclosure

Marked as a rectangular embanked or moated enclosure (ext. dims. c. 70m N-S: c. 50m E-W) on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and located in a slight E-facing fold in a low-lying landscape. This is a rectangular grass-covered area (dims. 58m N-S; 31m E-W) defined by the slight dip of back filled moats at W and N (Wth 9-12m; D 0.1-0.3m) and the original moat (Wth 5m; D 1.6m) at E is a small N-S stream, the source of which is c. 30m SE to the SE angle.
