Embanked enclosure

Located on a gentle S-facing slope of a slight N-S spur. Circular area (diam. c. 30m) defined by a flat-topped earthen bank (at NW: Wth of base 5m; Wth of top 2m; int. H 1.7m; ext. H 1.4m), with stone-facing evident externally NNW-NE. An entrance (Wth 2.3m) at NE may be original. An outer bank was levelled into the intervening fosse in living memory. There is local tradition of a Man-made underground passage (WA026-023002-) in a 'hollow sound' under a farm lane just to the W and the burnt mound (WA026-072----) is c. 20m to the S. The site is planted with coniferous trees. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Waterford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
