Embanked enclosure

Marked as a rectangular embanked or moated enclosure (ext. dims. c. 65m NE-SW; c. 60m NW-SE) on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and as the SE moat alone (L c. 50m) on the 1924 ed. It is situated in a slight fold on the NW-facing slope of a small NE-SW ridge. This is a roughly square grass and scrub-covered area (dims. c. 40m N-S; c. 40m E-W) defined by flat bottomed moats at E, S and N (Wth 3.5 5m; D 1m). The moat on the W side and the W ends of the N and S moats are back filled but are visible as a change in vegetation.
