Edmond Roche, 1st Baron Fermoy, was born in County Cork, Ireland, on 9 August 1815. He represented County Cork and later Marylebone in the British House of Commons before becoming Lord Lieutenant of County Cork in 1856. Queen Victoria raised him to the Peerage of Ireland as Baron Fermoy in 1855, a title he passed to his son Edward after dying in County Cork on 17 September 1874.
