Coonagh Castle has vanished except for an oval grass platform at the south end of a low ridge in Toonagh, Bunratty Upper By. The earthwork measures 18m by 6m and still stands 1-3m above the land beside it. A castle may have risen there, but no wall or room remains to prove it. The ridge keeps the shape of a lost building while the building itself has returned to grass and scrub.
