Earthwork in Mullagha

Situated at the crest of the W-facing slope of Mullagha Hill. A small circular enclosure (diam. c. 15m) is depicted faintly on the 1836 edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is annotated as a ‘Fort’ in gothic lettering. This is a slightly raised rectangular and grass-covered area (dims of top 17m E-W; 13m N-S) defined by scarps (Wth up to 4m; H up to 0.7m). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987).
