Earthwork in Eskerymorilly

This record refers to a possible earthwork recorded by Knox (1911, 238-239) in Eskerymorilly townland. He described it as a spur of raised ground (L c. 100m; Wth c. 45m; H c. 9m) projecting from the narrow W end of much higher E−W esker or ridge. The spur appeared to have been artificially scarped. The space on top of the spur was subdivided roughly centrally by a N−S bank with a shallow ditch on its W side. A small quarry pit cut into the spur, roughly midway along its S slope.
