Carrigacooleen holds a broken fort where a low earthen bank curves beside a field fence, enclosing waterlogged ground instead of dry stone. A shallow ditch marks the outer edge, while an underground stream still cuts through the southern half, suggesting the fort may have been built around water rather than against it. The shape resists easy explanation, preserving a place where drinking, washing or living may have mattered more than fighting.

In pasture, on W-facing slope. Arc (C 17.6m) formed by low earthen bank (int. H 0.6m; ext. H 0.8m) S->N; abutting field fence to E. Depression (D 0.5m) outside bank on NNW side may be remains of fosse. Interior waterlogged; stream from underground drain flows through S half. Known locally as 'fort'.
