Dunrobin Castle on the Ardmore Islands, Islay, was built in the 19th century as a summer residence by the Mackenzie family, who were prominent Scottish clan leaders and landowners. It is remembered for its strategic location and as an example of Scottish island architecture and aristocratic retreats during the Victorian era.
