Dundee, 10 Castle Terrace

Flat(s) (20th Century), Terraced House (19th Century)

What is recorded here

Castle Terrace is a layered city street where nineteenth-century terraced houses stand beside twentieth-century flats, recording both continuity and change. Dundee has always favoured practical invention, so the street likely served workers, students and families who needed rooms close to markets, universities and the river. The building at number ten may have held several lives at once, with stairways linking kitchens, bedrooms and workshops under one roof. Such addresses are common in Scotland, but they also preserve the rhythm of urban survival: adapt the house, keep the neighbourhood, and let the street remember what its people did.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Dundee, 10 Castle Terrace as Flat(s) (20th Century), Terraced House (19th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
