Dúinín Dhiarmuid Mhóir is a promontory fort in County Cork named for the pirate Diarmuid More, though local tradition also links it to Dermot Conor O’Driscoll. Prof. O’Kelly excavated the site in 1953, revealing layers of human activity on the exposed rock. The name itself suggests a boundary between history and legend, where a fort becomes a canvas for whoever needed a dangerous story to tell.
