Drumdutton Church Graveyard

Graveyard

What is recorded here

Drumdutton Church Graveyard vanished from County Donegal after Capt. Thomas Dutton built the village and church there in the first quarter of the 17th century. The burial ground still appears on old survey maps, yet no trace remains for a visitor to find. That absence turns the place into a ghost story about memory itself, as if the dead refused to be pinned down and walked away when the village stopped remembering them.
Drumdutton Church: Capt. Thomas Dutton, who erected a house and village here in the first quarter of the 17th century was probably also responsible for the building of this church (DG026-019001-). The burial ground (DG026-019002-) shown on the 2nd and 3rd editions of the OS 6-inch maps is not now visible. Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload/revision: : 19 July 2010
