What is recorded here
Unlocated dovecote in Ballinakill, County Laois, recorded in 1641 inside the manor of Gallenridgeway alias Balinekill. It stood among a large mansion, one hundred messuages, two watermills, a fulling mill, an iron-mill, courts, fairs and markets. The dovecote may have fed that whole busy place, its pigeons returning through lanes where hammers rang and cloth was beaten clean.
