Dornoch, 'monastic Settlement'

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Dornoch, 'monastic Settlement' as Monastery (early Medieval)(possible), Monastic Settlement (7th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Linked to Saint Duthac (Duncan), the 11th-century patron saint of Dornoch, the site is associated with early Christian monastic activity and pilgrimage traditions in northern Scotland. Local folklore connects the area with healing wells and the saint's role in converting the Picts.
